First-time home buyers are eligible for up to $8,000.\u00a0 First-time buyers are defined as any buyer who has not owned a principal residence during the three-year period prior to the purchase.\u00a0\u00a0 Repeat Buyers are eligible for up to $6,500.\u00a0 Repeat Buyers are defined as any buyer who has owned and lived in their principal residence for 5 consecutive years out of the last 8 years.<\/p>\n

There are income limitations tied to the Tax Credit, limits for single taxpayers is $125,000 \u2013 the limit is $225,000 for married taxpayers filing a joint return.<\/p>\n

Any home that will be used as a principal residence will qualify for the credit, provided the home is purchased for a price less than or equal to $800,000.<\/p>\n
